Having One Good Year Doesn't Make You A Magical Genius
With a long investment journey ahead of you, its always important to stay grounded, in both good times and bad times.
Even Buffett has years where Berkshire under-performed the index, with some negative years. But over a 55 year period, with an overall gain of 2,744,062% (yep that's a comma, not a decimal place) Berkshire has handily outperformed the market by over 10% on a compounded basis.
You might be up this year and down the next. What matters is that over a period of years, if your approach is legit, you should be better than where you were when you started.
"Achieving financial success isn't about defeating professionals at their game. It's about achieving self control, so you can step back from both the euphoria and the despair that alternately seize the financial markets every few years." - Jason Zweig
As always, "Come for the laughs, stay for the fun times".
